Martinez and Carnegie Represent Belize in Nicaragua’s NORCECA Stop

May 7, 2019 – Edgar Martinez & Joseph Carnegie represented Belize at the 3rd stop of the Continental Beach Volleyball Tour competition held in Managua, Nicaragua, May 3rd to 5th. The team had been training with Coach Juan Carlos Perdomo in preparation to compete against the top teams of the region. 

The NORCECA Beach Volleyball Tour arrived in Managua, Nicaragua, at the Paseo Xolotlán Stadium, the same stage that received the Central American Games less than two years ago. 15 female teams and 16 male teams participated. 

Belize played in a tough group against USA, Canada and Guatemala. While we did not come away with any wins at this high level tournament, the experience gained by our Belize team is invaluable.  

 

 

 

 

Women’s Results:

Final: CUB d NCA 2-0 (21-8, 21-9). Bronce: ESA d USA 2-0 (21-15, 21-15). Semifinals: CUB d ESA 2-0 (21-10, 21-11); NCA d USA 2-1 (15-21, 21-16, 15-13). 4-5: CAN d CAN-b (Forfeit). 7-8: MEX d CRC (Injury). 9-10: ISV d GUA 2-0 (21-16, 21-15). 11-12: CRC d TTO 2-1 (11-21, 21-16, 15-12).

Men’s Results

Final: CUB d GUA 2-0 (21-9, 21-15). Bronze Medal: TTO d NCA 2-1 (21-18, 18-21, 15-10). Semifinals: CUB d NCA 2-0 (21-9, 21-17); GUA d TTO 2-0 (21-16, 21-14). 5-6: CAN d CAN (forfeit team B). 7-8: NCA d DOM 2-0 (21-12, 23-21). 9-10: USA d CRC 2-0 (21-14, 27-25). 11-12: PUR d ESA 2-0 (21-14, 21-16).
