Belize representatives form part of NORCECA Board of Administration and Commissions
Sunday, October 25, 2020 – The 25th NORCECA Congress took place virtually this weekend, October 24 and 25, 2020, and representatives of the Belize Volleyball Association now form a part of the NORCECA Board of Administration and Commissions.
Congratulations go out to Belize Volleyball Association President, Allan Sharp, newly elected NORCECA Board of Administration Member, as well as all those appointed to the NORCECA Commissions for 2020-2024 as follows: Albert Humes has been reappointed to the Technical & Coaches Commission; Nicole Solano has been appointed to the Marketing Commission; Martin Swasey has been appointed to the Beach Volleyball Commission, and Allan Sharp has been reappointed to the Development Commission.
Cristobal Marte Hoffiz of Dominican Republic, was re-elected by acclamation as President of the NORCECA Volleyball Confederation for the period 2020-2024. He has held the position since 2001.
The Congress was held virtually due to COVID-19, and had the participation of the 41 National Federations and Territories, members of the Executive Committee, NORCECA staff in addition to the President and Executive Director of the FIVB.
Congratulations also go out to all members of AFECAVOL who now form a part of the NORCECA Executive Committee, Board of Administration and Commissions. Furthermore, Allan Sharp has been selected as an alternate for representation of NORCECA on the FIVB Board of Administration. These appointments are unprecedented for him and for Belize. He had this to say:
“I am very happy and proud that for the first time, Belize will have representation on 4 of the 11 NORCECA Commissions. Congratulations to my colleagues. Thanks to AFECAVOL President, Felix Sabio, and to NORCECA President, Mr. Cristobál Marte and the NORCECA BoA, for recognizing our talent and giving us the opportunity. As for my election to the NORCECA BoA and selection as alternate as NORCECA’s representative to the FIVB BoA, I am humbled and grateful for the support of my AFECAVOL colleagues, the NORCECA Board of Administration, the complete NORCECA congress, and especially the support of President Cristobál Marte. My goal is to work in support of the magnificent leadership of President Marte and represent all 41 NFs for the continued improvement of volleyball and beach volleyball in our continent, our zone, and Belize.”
In addition to the established Commissions, a new Athletes Commission was also formed presided by the legendary Mireya Luis Hernandez, three-time Olympic champion of Cuba.
